Unable to Reach Floating IP: "Destination Host Unreachable"

Problem

• A floating IP attached to an instance on a tenant network is unreachable.
• When pinging the instance (assuming ICMP is allowed in the security group) externally, "Destination Host Unreachable" is observed.

Environment

• Platform9 Managed OpenStack - All Versions
• Neutron
• OVS

Cause

There is no physical interface associated with the external OVS bridge.

Resolution

1. Add a physical NIC to the external bridge.

Note: The external bridge may be labeled as br-pf9 or br-ext. To list the bridges and associated interfaces, use:
