Ubuntu Instance Console Stuck on "Booting from hard disk"

Problem

You are not able to access the console of an Ubuntu instance through the Platform9 UI. The instance powers on successfully and it will also be accessible through SSH but while accessing the console, the following error is observed.

Environment

• Platform9 Managed OpenStack - All Versions
• Nova
• Ubuntu

Cause

The Ubuntu image being used is of the disk-kvm type that uses a reduced kernel instead of the generic kernel.

Resolution

1. Download the amd64.img cloud image instead of the amd64-disk-kvm.img image from the following link.
