Problem
Unable to access Kubernetes workload clusters using password-based Kubeconfigs when the management plane is unavailable or unreachable.
Environment
- Platform9 Managed Kubernetes - All versions
- Platform9 Self Managed Cloud Platform - All versions
Answer
- Due to the existing architecture of PMK and SMCP, it is currently impossible to implement password-based Kubeconfigs to function during management plane downtime or maintenance periods.
- A feature request with ID PMK-6576 has been submitted to address this issue.
- As an alternative solution, consider using certificate-based Kubeconfigs with extended validity.
